BeautyLove - Get shiny & soft hair with Olive Oil!

Olive oil is a fairy old domestic remedy for shiny healthy hair. It contains amongst vitamines K & E, squalene, a natural component, which is often used as a moisturizer in organic cosmetic products. The fatty acids will add great shine to your hair by moisturizing and conditioning it at the same time. Additionally it can also treat hair loss, help with dandruff and even help with lice. So olive oil seems to be a bottled natural miracle. As some of you may know I am a huge fan of DIY treatments. So, obviously, as soon as I read that olive oil does all of these amazing things for your hair, I had to try it out. I looked up an easy treatment on the web and I must say I was really impressed by the results. When dry, my hair felt so much softer, shinier and overall healthier. Through dyeing and styling I have pretty dry hair. Especially this summer when we had a major heatwave where I live, it suffered a lot. Honestly, the following treatment helped a lot!

Olive Oil Hair Treatment

All you need is half a cup of olive oil. Tuck that cup into the microwave and heat it up a little, but not too much. The warm temperature will unfold all those wonderful substances making them ready to treat your hair, also the oil will be easier to wash off. Rub the warm olive oil into your hair but leave out the roots, unless you have a dry scalp, otherwise your hair will get really greasy in the aftermath. Make sure all of your locks, except for your roots, are covered with olive oil and tuck them into a turban and let it sink in for about 30 minutes. Afterwards shampoo and condition your hair as usual, make sure that you shampoo properly so that all the oil gets washed off. Dry your hair however you like and be amazed by the results!

I hope that the olive oil treatment is going to show the same amazing result it did for me and hope you guys enjoyed this post!

Stylespired - Olivia Palermo

Socialite and model Olivia Palermo is best known for being part of the cast on the reality show "The City". As the daughter of real estate developer Douglas Palermo and interior designer Lynn Hutchings, she grew up on the Upper East Side, New York and has definitely developed a great sense of style. People even spread a rumour that Gossip Girl character Blair Waldorf was based on her, which she completely denied though. In "the City" Olivia often came across as kind of stern and difficult, privately she is very different though. "It's probably because when the City is being filmed, I'm always at work, where I am mostly focused and eager. They barely film the other side of me" she said in an interview with Alexa Chung. Olivia is not only known for her role, modeling or social events, she also made herself a name as a fashionista. Working in the fashion world as a model and designer, it is no wonder that she is almost always wonderfully dressed. Olivia is definitely a "black" lover and doesn't shy away from wearing all black too. She simply combines different materials and makes a gorgeous look out of it. She has a faible for black blazer jackets and bold accessories like broad belts and clunky jewelry, so her style is very extravagant and classy. She is very brave with combining colours others never would and almost never fails with making an excellent look out of it.Also she has a thing for odd patterns which are very often to be found in her outfits. Privately she is set back a little, wearing more comfortable clothes but still in a very classy manner. For work, she dresses like a real business lady and often reminds me of Anne Hathaway in the movie "The Devil wears Prada", after her make-over of course. Olivia is just a real New York girl. She's classy, cool and besides that also a really nice person, what more can you wish for? Now as always I have picked out my favourite candids for you and hope you guys enjoy!

FunFact: She wears red nail polish in every single picture!

One of my personal favourite outfits of her. Those silver brogues are amazing!

BeautyLove - Nivea Refreshing Toner

As always around summer my skin starts to break out a little. Summer heat, sweat and hands that keep wiping around in the face, irritated my skin a lot. Being usually a bit lazy with skincare because I don't really tend to have acne or blemishes (yay for healthy nutrition!), I realised I had to be a bit more commited if I wanted to keep it that way throughout summer. Not liking putting too much onto my face when caring for my skin, I had been completely blanking it. When going shopping with my best friend and we were talking about skin care, she kindly reminded me how important toners actually are. So we went to the next drugstore where she tucked the "Nivea Refreshing Toner" into my hands saying "This is a really good one, and it's not too strong", which is very important for I have quite sensitive skin.

Now about the toner. What can I say? I really like it! First of all, it smells really nice, not too soapy or agressive at all. The lotus extract & vitamines inside of it refresh and nuture your skin, leaving it soft and smooth. If you have sensitive skin and look for a light not too alcoholic toner, this one is for you. I personally put it as a finish after skin care or just during the day when my skin needs a refreshment. The great thing about this toner is, that as soon as you put it onto your skin it feels as if someone tickled your pores, which is such a funny feeling that you can't get enough of it really :-) Also it has a kind of balancing effect to my skin. As soon as I put it on, all the redness disappears which is really great, because my skin tends to redness. After every time I use it my skin is not only balanced but also refreshed, smooth and healthy looking. In conclusion I would reccomend to everyone I know because it's a really good product!

+ refreshes
+ balances out skin
+ smells nice
+ the price is alright (around 6$ 5€)
+ light

- None! :-)

Stylespired - Lauren "LC" Conrad

We all know and love Lauren "LC" Conrad from the famous reality TV series' "Laguna Beach" and "The Hills". Being the most humble and goal oriented person on the show, she has achieved so much since the Hills has ended. She has her own clothing line for "Kohls" and wrote severeal books, one of them being "Style" a fashion guide with many great tips & tricks. Lauren turned into a real fashion icon and is one of my personal major style idols. She definitely has a hand for choosing simple pieces, combining them so well, that it looks amazing. Whether it's because of colours, cuts or both. She also is great at accessorizing not being afraid of choosing more dramatic jewelry and wearing her favourite bags around all the time. Lauren loves clean cuts and fabrics like satins or soft light cotton. "Kitten Heels are awful and should be forbidden!" she admits at an interview with George Lopez and also in her book "Style". Lauren wears her hair mostly long and wavy or in a pony tail with her trademark braided strand. Going out she mostly puts her hair into an elegant messy updo or a ballerina bun. Her make-up is usually very natural during the day. Going out Lauren doesn't shy away from dramatic lipstick and wearing super elegant ensembles. Looking through her candids we can learn a lot from Lauren. She is not only good at dressing herself and designing, she is also very classy which makes her such a great role model for young women. Now enjoy the candids I picked out for you guys!

Stylespired - Rachel Bilson

This week's stylespiration is noone less than the fabulous Rachel Bilson. The cute and quirky O.C. California actress lives fashion and barely misses a show during fashion week. Rachel loves vintage clothes, layers and isn't afraid to play around with accessories. She in fact has a great affinity for shoes, bags and hats. Even if she dresses casually, she always adds something off-beat to spice up the look. The actress said herself in an interview that her biggest influence when it comes to fashion was her mum who would always wear vintage clothes and take Rachel shopping with her. Also she revealed that she only wears what she likes and what she really feels comfortable in. Her style is very romantic but also pretty effortless and casual at the same time. She often combines soft colours with monotones like black or white, but also plays around with loud colours like yellow or bright pink. Even though she may be a bit on the short sized side, Rachel is not afraid to wear boyfriend jeans with boots. She is very comfortable with her size and figure and knows exactly what suits her and what doesn't.

As always I picked out some of my favourite candids for you guys! Enjoy!

This is such a cute look! I personally love those studded shorts!

One of Rachel's more elegant looks. As always the colours match perfectly.

I really fancied what Rachel wore at this years TCAs. That flowy white, ruffled dress with those
edgy studded boots - such a gorgeous look!

HealthyLove - Refreshing Summer Drinks

It is commonly known that 8 glasses of water a day are recommended in order to stay healthy. Not only your body will be hydrated, but it also will get a great boost in metabolism and detoxes a great deal. Drinking 8 glasses of water can be quite a boring story though. So why not get creative with your daily drinks? Adding fruit and herbs to your water not only makes it so much more delicious but also adds vitamins to it!

You can easily add all of your favourite fruits and herbs. I personally love water with cucumber, lemon and mint leaves! But there are so many more!

FashionLove - Classy Basics 101 - The little black dress

There is little a piece of clothing as famous as the little black dress. Cultivated by Coco Chanel in 1920 it was supposed to be an affordable versatile elegant piece of clothing for every woman to wear. Since then it has become the icon under its clothing colleagues and never went out of fashion. Audrey Hepburn herself wore the LBD in Breakfast at Tiffany's in the 50s and making it more popular than ever.

But what are the rules for wearing the LBD? Well it really depends on your age. Teenagers should not wear the LBD yet because it can be too vixen-ish and may appear inappropriate. Also the LBD shouldn't be worn on a wedding or on a funeral - that is an absolute no go! On any evening or party occasions the LBD is just right though. Wear it together with heels and black tights along with golden or silver jewellry to shine it up. You can also dress it down with a leather jacket or chic it up with a black blazer jacket. It is a pretty versatile piece. One should only know how and when to wear it.

As day wear the LBD is a bit difficult. It's definitely clever to choose a more daywear type of dress. A nice flowy cute dress best worn with a skinny colorful or monotone belt around the waist and a jacket along with it maybe. Never wear a satin or too sexy black dress as daywear - these types of LBD belong to formal events and club nights.

Otherwise you can play around with the dress as much as you want. There are so many types of LBDs and for it's black you can combine it wil all the colours you want!

What to wear with it:
+ Tights
+ Belts
+ Heels
+ Ballet flats
+ boots
+ blazer jackets
+ leggings if you have to
+ other types of jackets

What to not wear with it:
+ Jeans
+ Sneakers
+ no silk and satin LBD for casual daywear
(unless you are Victoria Beckham or a Kardashian)

Rachel Bilson shows a great example how to wear the little black dress during the day!

Olivia Palermo showed off the formal LBD during Tribeca Film Festival

Can't wait to receive my Pottermore welcome e-mail!!

Since I was lucky enough to sign into Pottermore at day 6 (totally by accident because I looked at the page for the first time and got a clue right away) I now can't wait to receive my welcome e-mail and immerse into the experience. It's very exciting and kind of reminds me of back in 2001 when I would sit and wait for my hogwarts acceptance letter to arrive! For those who don't know what Pottermore is, it is a website created by J.K. Rowling herself for Potterheads all across the world to experience and shape the story in their very own way, starting in October for everyone. A Million lucky fans were able to sign into Pottermore before October by solving clues during a period of seven days, at very random short terms of each day.

Reading insider articles I found out that you get your own wand out of 33.000 possible wands during your school supply shopping at Diagon Alley and of course the wand choses you. Also you get sorted into one of the four commonly known houses by taking a quiz, consisting of many unobvious questions so noone can cheat and you get sorted because of your personality not because of your personal preferrence. I think that is a good thing, though I have to admit I would be quite upset if I wasn't a Ravenclaw.

Which ever way it turns out I am super excited about the whole thing and hope for all of us who are within the one million firsts to use Pottermore, to receive our welcoming mails soon enough! :)

Stylespired - Blake Lively

Actress Blake Lively is loved by many because of her positive and lovely personality. We all know her best from her role as Serena van der Woodsen, the scandalous fashionista right from Upper East Side, New York. It seems though that in the past four years Blake learned a lot from her role and kind of adopted Serena's style. That was definitely no mistake. Many journals, such as teenvogue, have elected her for number one best dressed young actress. Blake's style has definitely impressed me. I have never been much of a fan but after browsing her candids I was really impressed. It seems that no matter what Blake wears in any situation is a great ensemble, even if it is just thrown together! Her outfits seem so effortless and kind of cool chic but not too deliberate. Just like our last week's stylespiration Charlotte Casiraghi, Blake also loves to wear riding boots and boots in general. During the day Blake usually reaches for basics and combines them skillfully. Either that or she just grabs a nice simple dress and puts on the right pair of sandals or heels along with it. She has a good eye when it comes to matching colours and accessorizes her clothes minimally. As always I have chosen some of my personal favourite candids and here they are for you!

I really love this outfit of her! It's so casual but chic at the same time!

I really love this coat and hope to get a similar one for this years winter!

Blake is a fan of chanel and has often been seen wearing the brand around. Karl approves.
