FashionLove - Classy Basics 101 - The little black dress

There is little a piece of clothing as famous as the little black dress. Cultivated by Coco Chanel in 1920 it was supposed to be an affordable versatile elegant piece of clothing for every woman to wear. Since then it has become the icon under its clothing colleagues and never went out of fashion. Audrey Hepburn herself wore the LBD in Breakfast at Tiffany's in the 50s and making it more popular than ever.

But what are the rules for wearing the LBD? Well it really depends on your age. Teenagers should not wear the LBD yet because it can be too vixen-ish and may appear inappropriate. Also the LBD shouldn't be worn on a wedding or on a funeral - that is an absolute no go! On any evening or party occasions the LBD is just right though. Wear it together with heels and black tights along with golden or silver jewellry to shine it up. You can also dress it down with a leather jacket or chic it up with a black blazer jacket. It is a pretty versatile piece. One should only know how and when to wear it.

As day wear the LBD is a bit difficult. It's definitely clever to choose a more daywear type of dress. A nice flowy cute dress best worn with a skinny colorful or monotone belt around the waist and a jacket along with it maybe. Never wear a satin or too sexy black dress as daywear - these types of LBD belong to formal events and club nights.

Otherwise you can play around with the dress as much as you want. There are so many types of LBDs and for it's black you can combine it wil all the colours you want!

What to wear with it:
+ Tights
+ Belts
+ Heels
+ Ballet flats
+ boots
+ blazer jackets
+ leggings if you have to
+ other types of jackets

What to not wear with it:
+ Jeans
+ Sneakers
+ no silk and satin LBD for casual daywear
(unless you are Victoria Beckham or a Kardashian)
