Yes! Summer holidays have finally started out and everyone I know is ready to hit the swimming pools and drink fresh homemade summer smothies outside! Somehow summers start out is kind of different from what I expected it to be like. While last week, when we still had school and did all of those unneccessary trips, it was really hot and summery, I'm now sitting at home not knowing what to do with my life because it's stormy, raining and 59°F outside. One of my friends even wrote in facebook that she took out her winter jacket. That's not the summer I was expecting. Fortunately, it's just two days in so nothings lost yet. I really hope the weather is going to change soon so that we can all enjoy our well deserved holidays!
It's kind of an autumn-ish feeling right now. Sitting here, cold outside, nothing to do really. So I decided to dish one of my favourite cold weather meals - lentil stew. My mum often made that when I was a child when it was cold outside because I loved it so much and always demanded it when she asked what to cook for lunch. It's pretty easy and done quickly. I'm still 70% raw so my breakfast consisted of a wild berry-oatmeal milkshake and orange quarters. Eating more raw than cooked food is so nice. You really do have more energy, better sleep and weight loss kicked in too. The only problem I have with the whole concept is that you get easily bored of eating oranges and apples the whole time. Cooking is just so much more fun and provides such a broader variety. Also eating raw gives you major craving attacks. At the second day of eating raw I ended up overeating on chocolate and having a bad stomachache. Maybe these things just need practice but it's not easy to stand those attacks.
It was definitely easier last summer when I simply ate healthier and quit on foods that have too many carbs and additives like sugar, preservatives, flavorings and dye stuffs. I'm probably going back to that, enjoying my lentil stews and green beans with omelettes instead of munching apples the whole day (Do you know those moments when you are so hungry you start seeing people as foods? That's how much appetite I had). I guess going raw is just not my cup of tea. I'd rather eat healthy cooked foods, being nicely full than having appetite attacks like a sabre-tooth tiger in the desert.
